It happens more than you think…
I do give the prize to the Cardinals as they really know how to throw those dirty looks, but the House Sparrows really give them a run for the money.
They seem to hold the stare the longest too, like there is intent. Many times I wonder what they are contemplating. I am just glad they are little.
I know, I know, a literal post about nothing. Just to come clean, the title hit me as a play on words, and I literally could not make a humorous post about it. Imagine me at a loss of words! A post about nothing. Nat Geo had an article called “What Does Nothing Look Like?”, and nothing never looked so good.

I’m never sure what they are thinking, but those birds seem to be really intent and focused when they look directly at me. Great shots–the house sparrows are wonderful, but I find the cardinals to be absolutely irresistible.
Me too, the cardinals are my favorites even when grumpy.

The titmouse actually made me laugh out loud! …but overall having these birds watching makes me feel a little creepy, like I’m some delicious little worm trying to hide behind a blade of grass!
I get that feeling too, good idea. Ha. Maybe that should have been my angle to the post!
Nice photos and title. Don’t worry about a post about nothing. Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David managed nine seasons writing episodes about nothing; didn’t harm them any.
I only wish I could do nothing that well.
it is amazing how our fellow creatures often stare at us as if to ask, ‘what?’ i’ve titled many of my images with that, so that i can find them when i need a reference for a fun drawing/painting.

I get stared down a lot too especially when I go to fill the feeders. And they are different stares. The chickadee and titmouse have sweet stares, the blacks of their eyes always look kind and friendly whereas the cardinals and sparrows seem a little peeved. I always love your bird shots Donna!

This was a great post Donna and I loved the title….I adore when the birds give their stares…usually though I am indoors photographing them so I don’t get as many stares.
